Are you working on a project which requires bespoke fire doors?

With the evolving world of interior design the choice of door is essential to any room and its visual impact.Sourcing fire doors can prove difficult when faced with a non-standard sized opening. As with most standard sized fire doors the selection is limited, however opting for a bespoke solution provides more variety and choice.

The key advantage of selecting custom-made doors is that it allows the option to have matching doors throughout the property, without the worry of irregular sized openings. This can be a huge benefit when design is paramount.

Glazed fire doors are becoming increasingly popular especially in dwellings and offices where extra light is required or when dividing rooms. Fire doors are glazed with fire glass more commonly known as Pyrobelite glass.  Custom made fire doors can be supplied with or without frames and are normally offered an a choice of timbers such as Oak, Walnut, and White Primed.

In accordance with building regulations, fire doors are required in domestic dwellings above two levels, in loft conversions, between house and integral garage; and in a multi-use building separating residential elements from business. It is always advisable to seek advice from your local building control officer regarding the particulars of your project.

The minimum standard for fire doors is 30 minute protection (FD30) which is suitable for all domestic applications. FD30 doors are commonly supplied with a thickness of 44mm.  For areas requiring additional protection, 60 minute (FD60) rating doors are used which have a thickness of 54mm.
